Its time for some updates.

2008 has been simply flying by and bringing with it, new opportunities. I have exhibited in a four person show at the River Gallery and a few group shows at the Pop Shop in Lakewood. I currently have new work up at Ursuline College for the "Women Watch" show, which is specifically dedicated to the concerns and perspectives of women.  This show will be up until April 13th.  Also, for the first time, I exhibited in the annual SPACES "Art Mart" members show.  This show will be up for one week only, ending March 28th.

Stay tuned for more updates!  There are a lot of exciting things in the mix right now including a public art commission and my second solo show with the Red Brick Center for the Arts.

Some Notes on my Process

My subject matter revolves around popular color trends(past and present) and abstracted record players and other media.  My series began with this below image (left) which I deconstructed as a contour line drawing (right).

I continued to play with the image, first concentrating on line quality and then adding color.

"Record Players" - 12"x9"

Then, I played with more color, using color palettes found in magazine advertisements.   I use advertisements as color studies for my paintings because they tend to follow the most recent trends in color.

"Spin it Nine Times" - 3'x3'

I will be working on posting the rest of the series.    Stay tuned for more images and information on the show!
